The Top 10 Ways to Get and Stay Healthy (part 1 of 4)
Dr. Jason Loth, C.C.S.P., C.S.C.S.
It's that time again, time for a new year and
New Year's resolutions. When it comes to
health I try not to encourage New Year's
resolutions as much as new daily changes. I
try to encourage patients to begin new each
day, not just once a year. "This is the day
the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be
glad in it." (Ps 118:24).
Since we have to start sometime there is no
better time than the present. So, for the
New Year I have chosen The Top 10 Ways
to Get and Stay Healthy.
In these 4 articles each of these have significant
importance and one is not necessarily
more important that the others.
#10- Positive Mental Attitude - "All the days of the oppressed are wretched
but a cheerful heart has a continual feast".
(Pro 15:15).
This one speaks for itself. The glass is half
full is an attitude that you can use daily.
You can choose your attitude and determine
how you think. The optimistic person is
more likely to accomplish their goals than
the pessimist. A recent Harvard study
shows that being optimistic can reduce the
risk of heart disease in older men.
Challenge - Start thinking of the positive side
of every circumstance.
#9- Cleanse/fast -
Our bodies are accumulating toxins constantly.
Toxins are accumulated in our bodies
in many ways. Stress, excessive or too
little exercise, environmental pollutants,
chemicals in foods, water, soaps, detergents,
skin care products, etc, and smoking are
some of the ways our bodies become toxic.
To check the toxicity of your health care
products go to (http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.
com).
I compare the body to a car. When it's running
it produces exhaust. Our body is the
same way. To produce energy we create by
products that are toxic. To allow our body
to function at its optimum we need to clean
house so to speak with our bodies. Our
body's main mechanisms of detoxification
are through breathing, sweating, urination,
and defecation. There are a large variety of
food based herbal cleanses to facilitate the
detoxification process. Some include fasting
which the Bible explains how to do (Mt
6:16-18). I recommend consulting your
naturopathic/ chiropractic/ medical doctor (as long as they are educated on cleansing
and on your health status) on which cleanse
would be the best for you depending on
what your goal is with the cleanse. Check
in next month for 3 more of the top ten
ways to get and stay healthy.
